"Pieces of Her"

$550.00

"I am pieces of all the places I have been, and all the people I have loved. I've been stitched together by song lyrics, book quotes, adventures, late night conversations, moonlight, and the smell of coffee." -- Brooke Hampton

ORIGINAL painting on cradled wood panel

Acrylics/Mixed Media, 2023

Size: 18" x 48" x 1.25"

This is 4 of 4 in what I call my contemporary graffiti style. They were created fast and free over several VERY late nights to music that made me want to move. In my studio notes, I have written that I aspire to make murals and public art. It's been on my mind for a long time. I still want to get my real graffiti on, but these 4 pieces are a good start and a nod to all the souls brave enough to make their mark in public for all to see. Spray paint and women's images are paired with organic, scratchy marks and (seriously) funky, loose, abstract flowers. Windows in time. These colors are not for the faint of heart. They are statement pieces. They invite you in again and again to look deeper. I know what I was feeling when I created them. You decide what they say to you. (I've left some clues) I'd love to know. Maybe I'll get the opportunity to make some real street art one day soon. They are stand-alone pieces but would look fabulous as a grouping.
